Gallifrey One 2018

11 Feb

It’s that time of year again!

After taking 2017 off, I am returning for my 6th Gallifrey One! Huzzah! 😉

I’ll be meeting up with most of Team Wine Lords from Austin (Laura, Eric, and Mark), and it’ll be good to see other friends I haven’t seen in almost 2yrs! I can’t wait to see everyone 😊

Relaxation, family, friends, and geekery…….stay tuned. The adventure begins Tuesday!

Gallifrey One sold out. And no one should have been surprised. Or angry. Entitled Twats!!

Gallifrey One sold out. And no one should have been surprised. Or angry. Entitled Twats!!

All I have to say to the showrunners of Gallifrey One is this:

THANK YOU
THANK YOU
THANK YOU
!!!!

You gave us fair warning at this year’s convention. You repeatedly posted it on the website, on Facebook, and on Twitter. We all knew, and a lucky 3200 of us were able to get tickets. (in 75 minutes, no guest announcements…it speaks volumes to the fantastic jobs you all do every year!)

tumblr_lttizmovbu1r2n3oio1_250

I would say to not let the entitled twats complaining about it get you down, but judging by the most awesome post on your website (refer to the above screengrab) I would say that you aren’t.

So to the entitled “fans”, take Gally’s advice and go to another Doctor Who convention. (They are all awesome conventions afterall)

And to Gallifrey One, another THANK YOU! (it can’t be said enough)

Gallifrey One 2014 - Saturday

One picture will pretty much some up Saturday for me. I’ll give a proper update later, but for now enjoy the TinLitter with the Eighth Doctor.

A jumbled mess of squee

31 Jan

Good morning my lovelies! How’s everyone doing?

January is always crazy at work, and this year has not been an exception. Customers shipping late or buying after-christmas deals = chaos (still).

How’s the New Year’s Resolutions coming along? Break any, or all of them, yet? Obviously mine isn’t going as well as I planned since I am just now writing my second post of the month. So, big oopsie there :-p

Brightside to the chaos, Gallifrey One is in less than two weeks!!! Can’t wait to see my Who family again ❤

Image

And on top of being totally stoked for Gally, my ribbons finally arrived! They are even cuter than I hoped for! Love love LOVE them!

????????????????????????????????????????????

OH! Did you guys see the new Serenity comics came out this week?!?! THEY. ARE. AMAZINGG!

??????????????????????

Of course I grabbed all three covers. Totally worth it! I won’t give anything away yet, so GO FORTH AND READ THE SERENITY FANTASTICNESS!

Enough of that squee-ing and more, well…squee-ing. My larger version Ninth Doctor arrived. He was my first Doctor and always will be. Love the man!

Much like the title of this blog post said, this has been Jessica’s “…jumbled mess of squee”, heehee. More timely posts to follow next month. Actually, expect a bunch of Gallifrey One related posts next month 🙂

Signing off,

Gallifrey One 24

5 May

I’m stoked for next February! Hell, who am I kidding? I was ready for next Gallifrey as soon as closing ceremonies for this year’s were over. I’ve got our hotel booked.  Well, hotelS anyways. We’re staying at the Travelodge on Wednesday night, and then moving to the Marriott on Thursday afternoon. I need to find two roommates for the Marriott, but I’m not in a hurry. I do, however, wish they would at least announce the first guest(s) already! Shaun’s hinted at who they are in the last email:

“Now that the dust has settled a bit… we will be making our first guest announcements sometime during the Spring. Our first guest group is usually from ‘Classic’ Who and this year will be no exception. For example: in our first batch, look for a companion actor who’s never done Gallifrey One, a companion actor who’s been gone from Gallifrey One for over a decade, and a production team member making an extremely rare US appearance.”

So you know I jumped on Gally’s website right away to figure out who hasn’t been before/in the last 10+ years. I’ve pretty much got it figured out, well, I think I do anyways. We’ll see 🙂 Continue reading

1,064 registered for Gally!

21 Apr

Per GallifreyOne: “There are currently 1064 total members of Gallifrey 2013 as of 21 April 2012.”

Idk if that is more than last year at this point, but it seems like alot already, considering Gally is still 10 months away. Maybe I’m still in the Gally newbie stage or whatever, but I’m still stoked 🙂

If you’re thinking of going, here’s the registration info:

Countdowns!

10 Apr

So, I have a few conventions coming up that I’m counting down. I can’t wait!!

Dallas Comic Con: May 19-20

Comicpalooza (Houston): May 25-27

Texas ComiCon (San Antonio): June 22-24

Austin Comic Con: October 26-28

Gallifrey One (LA): February 15-17, 2013

I never thought living in Austin would put me in a prime convention spot. Then again, I didn’t get into conventions until I was 30. Yay for being a geek!

Anyone have conventions they recommend? Do you go to cons? Let us know!!

Peace & Who

Update time (including a bit of Gally)

8 Mar

Where did the time go? How is it already the 8th of March? I like being older, but not if the years start flying by this quickly!

Generalized update:
1. ConCrud
2. Severe Allergies
3. School took over my life
4. My manager was out on leave, so I was basically left in charge.

All that equals chaos in the life of Jessica. That being said, let me break it down for you. As for being sick, I thought I had escaped the concrud that everyone was complaining about having, and then a week after Gally BAM! Sick for 5 days and then thanks to this beautiful spring-like weather we’re having, the allergies kicked in. (Hooray for everyone on campus looking like death warmed over with half of them having whatever was going around and the other half dealing with allergies). Still a little stuffed up, but I am 100% on the energy levels 🙂

School kicked into high gear as soon as I got back from LA, which I struggled with because I was totally off my sleep schedule.  Over the course of one weekend, I had gotten used to staying up until midnight or 2a and then waking up at 430a or 6a to start over again. Granted, I was able to do it due to being on a convention high.  I got home and was back to my “normal schedule” of going to bed at 6 or 7p and waking up at 2 or 230a. Well, I tried anyways.  I still ended up going to bed at around 10p and then waking up at 230a for work, hauling butt to school and trying to stay alert enough to actually learn something. Then I got sick the day before my Myths and Moundbuilders exam, but I did get an A on it *woohoo* Thankfully, Spring Break is next week (and SXSW and a Doctor Who BBCA Meetup), so everything will be amazeballs and truly back to normal after that.

Gallifrey: was amazing. A-MA-ZING! That’s all I can really say. It was a great first Doctor Who Convention experience, I’m uber happy that I was able to attend, and there were so many highlights:
1. Seeing the Radio Free Skaro live show and talking to Warren randomly at the bar.
2. Meeting Camille Coduri, Paul McGann, Tony Curran, Mark Shephard, William Russell, Nicholas Briggs, Barnaby Edwards, Charlie Ross, Jake McGann, Daphne Ashbrook, Yee Jee Tso, Philip Segal, and the Big Finish actors.
3. Meeting peeps from LJ (Hi Michelle! Hi Becca!)
4. Seeing the insaneness of an Amy Pond photoshoot.
5. Skittle Amys (that showed up anyways lol)
6. The 3 Who Fangirl!
7. Meeting Austin Whovians (hey guys!!)
8. All the freakin fantastic cosplay. My faves: Aztec Barbara, the Adipose, the Ood (and the Ood-dogs), Old Amy, the hot Nine, the Nine with the mannequin arm…the list can go on for awhile…
9. LobbyCon
10. Roscoe’s in Inglewood

Work has been work.  My manager went on leave the day before I left for LA, so I had to jump right back into the muck as soon as I got back. However, she started back yesterday, so my three and a half weeks of working hell is over! *happy dance*

That’s the update.  Now that everything is on a normal cycle, I’ll bug y’all more often 😉

Peace & Who,
xoxo

My First #Gally Experience: Thursday

27 Feb

So, it finally happened.  I made it to Gallifrey One, THE Doctor Who convention in Los Angeles.  I was dissappointed when my plans fell through last year, but not this year! 🙂

THURSDAY:
Laura met me at my apartment on that morning and we drove to ABIA. We wondered if there were going to be any other Austin Doctor Who peeps on our flight, and there was! Sean from the Tardis Tavern was there, as well as two other girls who were connecting from Baltimore (HEY!!). The flight was fine, but OMG when we lost altitude (over the Cali/AZ border I think), I grabbed the seat in front of me and thought my stomach was going to fly out of my throat.  The kids all shrieked (which I don’t blame them). Upon touchdown, the overhead compartment across from us flew open. Four hands flew up to stop the bags from coming out to which we all applauded.  We actually arrived in LA ~20-25 minutes early, as our pilot treated the 737 like a stolen Lambo >_<

We grabbed our luggage and found the Marriott shuttle.  We sat in the back by Sean, and then Shaun the Convention Director got on (Hi Shaun!) got on board and we all chatted with him on the way there.  THEN I geeked out, becuase I saw Richard Franklin was on our shuttle. I had a quick fangirl moment, which thankfully he couldn’t see lol. We arrived at the hotel and checked in. (FYI The Marriott at LAX had me pay at check-in, so be prepared for the off chance it happens to you).

After checkin in, what did we do? (Note to self, don’t wait over a week to do this write-up. As an archaeologist, I should know this.) We ate dinner at Champions (higher prices, but HUGE portions); hit up the liquour store (Pinky’s maybe? All I can say is that at the age of 31, I GOT CARDED! WTF?! I’ve never been carded, sigh.) I got my messenger bag, threw my ribbons in and we went to see what this LobbyCon was all about.  It turned into a blur of activity and ribbon exchanging.  If I remember anything else pertinent, I’ll add it in later.

Next up, Friday!

The last collection of random #Gally photos.

24 Feb

These are the rest of the Gallifrey One photos I have.  I took more video than I did photos, but it was my first year at gally so I was trying to get my feet wet. Now I know what to expect next year 🙂 I’ll have the links to the videos once I get them up on YouTube.

Hope to see y’all at Gally in 2013!

Some photos from Gallifrey One 2012

Don’t hate me if the photos aren’t the clearest.  I have added a new camera to my list of things to buy before my next convention in May. Enjoy though, and don’t forget to check out our Conventions Are Cool blog!

Gally was amazing!

21 Feb

While the post title doesn’t exactly do it justice, it does pretty much sum it up. I’ll do my highpoint and photos update tmw after class.

We did decide to fly out on Wednesday next year, bc I missed the SoCal beaches
(and surfing) this year. Also, I learnt to take the Tuesday after the con off because I was utterly useless at work. (At least the plane got out relatively on time. 4 ULDs over 7000 pounds, WTH?!)

I met some fantastic ppl who I hope to see again. I shall hang out at the Champions bar more often as I was talking to ppl nonstop while I was there (and the hot bartender didn’t hurt. The butt on him, gorgeous. *side note, the hot black one, not the pompous white one* He also gave me the hookup on my drinks)

Anyways, this is turning into a total squirrel! moment so I’m ending it. Watch here tmw for the fun stuff 🙂 ❤
